Diabetes

The inpatient acute care diabetes unit of New Hanover Regional Medical Center cares for acutely ill diabetics who must be hospitalized.  Specially trained nursing staff, certified diabetic educators, and dieticians work with patients to get the information and care they need.

Room Accommodations

The unit has 17 patient beds in a combination of private and semi-private rooms.  Each room is equipped with cable television and each bed has a telephone with long distance service.

  • Nutritional counseling and medication education
  • Case Managers, Social Workers, Nutritionists
  • Patient Advocate Liaison (PAL)
  • Healing Arts Therapy
  • 24 hour pastoral care

Mealtimes

  • Breakfast - 8:45 - 9:15 am
  • Lunch - 12:45 - 1:15 pm
  • Dinner - 5:45 - 6:30 pm
