NHRMC and Independence Mall offering free cardiac risk assessments 02/12/2013 WILMINGTON – The Red Dress Project of the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation has teamed up with Independence Mall and Belk to offer women free cardiac risk assessments. The event will take place on Thursday, February 21 from 12-4:30 p.m. in the storefront next to Fleishman’s in the Belk wing. Cardiac risk assessments are offered to 70 women on a first come, first served basis. The assessment includes a cholesterol/glucose check, blood pressure check, body mass index determination and a questionnaire. Participants can talk with experts from the Heart Center at New Hanover Regional Medical Center about their results and receive a “report card” to share with their doctors.
The NHRMC Foundation’s Red Dress Project provides cholesterol screenings, cardiac disease risk assessments and education materials for women in our region to help limit the devastating effects of heart disease among women. For more information, visit nhrmcfoundation.org.
